PMK told to halt work at conference venue
It was a big setback for Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) as the Madras High Court has restrained it from making arrangements for its State conference scheduled to be held on February 14 in Vandalur

Chennai
A division bench comprising Sathish K Agnihotri and Justice M Venugopal while striking down a single judge order granting PMK the permission, held that when the ownership disputes between the parties of the said land came up for consideration, a division bench wherein Justice Satish K Anihotri was a member, ruled that “All the parties are restrained from alienating, transferring and creating any encumbrance on the property in question.”
Based on this and VGP, the said property owner’s counsel, seeking a day’s time to obtain instructions, the bench listed both the appeals on February 12. After PMK had identified VGP Thidal in Vandalur, which is under litigation, the police had denied permission.
It directed PMK to first approach the Revenue Department for utilising the land and seek police permission thereafter. Following this, PMK moved the High Court claiming that they had obtained due permission from VGP.
Based on this Justice M M Sundaresh on January 29 granted permission after observing that the interim order passed by the division bench does not come in the way of granting permission to hold the meeting. Based on this, the revenue authorities preferred an appeal against the permission granted, leading to the present interim stay.
