Three more advocates suspended for misconduct
Errant advocates continue to face the wrath of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry (BCTNP). Three more advocates were suspended from practice for their professional misconduct, taking the number of suspensions so far to 47.

Chennai
The three advocates-R Muthukrishnan, V Antony Jyothi Sheeran and Sunil Kumar - have been suspended for their individual acts of misconduct, which ranges from smuggling ganja into Puzhal prison, describing the High Court as ‘kangaroo court’ and clashing with CISF personnel.
Kangaroo court:
In the case of Muthukrishnan, the Bar Council passed the prohibitory order based on his confrontation with the judges and labelling the order making wearing of helmets compulsory for two-wheelers as ‘demonstration of unwarranted judicial activism’.
In fact, the High Court on pointing out the language of the pleadings was offensive in character and reflected disrespect towards the judicial system, had imposed a cost of Rs 10,000 on Muthukrishnan. The order also stated that instead of taking proceedings for contempt, it referred the matter to the Bar Council seeking it to examine his conduct in the context whether he should continue on the rolls as member of the Bar or his membership ought to be cancelled.
Conflict with CISF:
V Antony Jyothi Sheeran’s suspension is based on his involvement with nine other advocates, who have already been suspended, for spoiling peace and creating an ugly scene on the court premises. The Bar Council statement issued on Wednesday, said on verification of CISF’s complaint, video footage and photographs reveal that he along with other advocates had wantonly assembled in front of the frisking point to obstruct CISF personnel from performing their duties.
Smuggling ganja:
Another advocate Sunil Kumar has been suspended for smuggling 125 grams of ganja, hidden in his shoes, to a remand prisoner in Puzhal prison.
He was arrested and remanded to judicial custody by the Judicial Magistrate, Thiruvottiyur. The Bar Council statement confirming their suspension, said all three advocates have been suspended for ignoring all ethics to be maintained by a member of the legal profession and other misconduct as contemplated under the Advocates Act 1961.
The suspension order, prohibits them from practicing as an advocate in all court, tribunals and other authorities in India either in their name or in any assumed name till disposal of disciplinary proceedings.
