Trio from Washermenpet held; 2,350 pirated DVDs seized
The video piracy cell of Central Crime Branch of city police on Monday arrested three persons and recovered 2350 DVDs, including CDs of latest Tamil movies and 13 CD writing machines from them.

Personnel of the video piracy cell intercepted a two-wheeler rider, who was moving in suspicious manner near Vepery and conducted an enquiry with him. Subsequently, when the personnel checked his bag, they found pirated CDs of latest Tamil and English movies, besides several porn videos.
Police identified the accused as Mohammed Hussai (46), a resident of Washermanpet. Hussain, during interrogation, revealed the details of a gang, which produced and supplied pirated versions of new movies to different places in the state.
With the information given by Hussain, cops then picked up Jyothikumar (28) and Balu Prathap (28), also from Washermanpet, and raided their CD making unit at Sholavaram. The personnel seized several thousands CDs, including Sowcarpet, Pichaikaran, Pokkiriraja, Ganithan, Bangalore Days and Arathachinnam, 13 writing machines, two UPS and one printing machine.
