Thieves target locked house, flee with Innova

Police said V Jayakumar (40), who is a BJP office bearer of Tiruvallur, had gone out of station with his family about four days ago. When he returned on Monday morning, he found his car missing from the porch. 

He also found the front door of the house broken. When he entered the house, the contents of a bureau were all strewn over, and the cash and jewellery kept inside were missing. 

Lodging a complaint with the police, Jayakumar told them that when he checked the CCTV recordings, he found even the hard disc connected to the CCTV was missing. Police suspect the hand of someone familiar to the household behind the burglary. 

Later police collected finger prints from the crime scene and launched a hunt for the culprits. According to officials, the burglary could have happened about a day ago and they interrogated locals to check about any suspicious movement in the locality. 

Police also collected CCTV footage from neighbouring houses in the locality.
